Cimandis Sponsor CI Chef of the Year Competition
Published 24 March 2015
Each year Cimandis sponsor the ingredients for the competition, with the competition run at the College of Further Education with senior chefs and juniors (aged under 23) competing to create and deliver exciting menus against the clock and under the scrutiny of judges.
Simon McKenzie, the reigning senior CI Chef of the Year - winner March 2014 - says that entering the competition was a memorable experience;
"It was definitely tough to be judged against professionals from both Jersey and Guernsey and to be taking part in a competition strikingly similar to TVs Masterchef. I was genuinely thrilled to win and have enjoyed being an ambassador for professional chefs this year. It has been great taking part in public demonstrations such as the Seafront Sundays. Yes, it was tough juggling taking part in the national round of Chef with the day job getting ready to open La Reunion but I would recommend the experience thoroughly.”
Entrants had to devise a menu using the principal ingredients all supplied by Cimandis; a 2 course meal for juniors and a 3 course meal for senior level competitors.
The chefs submitting the best menus were invited to cook their menus live on March 19th at the College of Further Eduction.
