Cimandis Sponsor Taste Guernsey Seafront Sundays
Published 21 May 2015
The Esplanade will be closed on Sunday between Weighbridge and Albert Pier to accommodate the sixty two confirmed stallholders who are selling produce, snacks, locally crafted goods and Guernsey goodies.
Taste Guernsey have also organised a series of demonstrations by leading local chefs on the Cimandis pro-stage. These kick off at 10am when Tan Blondin will be preparing Guernsey Fillet of beef in a Southeast Asia style; her LARB promises to be a hot and spicy start to the day. She will be followed by Simon McKenzie, Said Acharki from Les Rocquettes and Wez Cadagon from Moores.
A further free activity is the Taste Guernsey cookery school which is opening under the tutorship of Ken Ramoo from the OGH. He will be showing youngsters how to make a breakfast or brunch classic during the morning and then helping adults to turn delicious local ingredients into a sophisticated supper dish during the afternoon. Enrolment for these free classes is on the day at the cookery school which will be set up outside the Information Centre.
With free tastings of local produce and fun challenges running through the day as well. Taste Guernsey hope this event will showcase the very best of Guernsey.
Chair of Taste Guernsey Tony Leck says;
“We schedule these events to coincide with the largest Sunday cruise ship arrivals so we can welcome first time visitors with a superb snapshot of what we have to offer. We also know how popular our events are with locals who can enjoy a completely free family event and then maybe also enjoy the special al fresco openings along the Esplanade as well.
Dave Chalk of sponsors Cimandis is delighted to support the event;
“We are passionate about the food we supply to our customers and know the importance of supporting local suppliers and the community. We have been supporting Taste Guernsey Events for a number of years, and this Seafront Sunday is an event not to be missed by locals and tourists alike.”
The event is also a wider showcase for Guernsey’s culinary excellence. ABN AMRO are preparing and serving a delicious chicken and mussels dish which they are selling to raise funds for their chosen charity Bowel Cancer Guernsey. Six charity stalls are also raising funds through food and produce themed activities as well.
A first time participant in the event will be Porkies who are grilling and selling local produce. With the other sixty stalls, they will be set up on the Esplanade for the event opening between 10 and 4 on Sunday.
The road will be closed between 8 and 6 pm to allow for the marquee set ups and bus diversions will be in place.
